Freddie was admitted for his second and third cycles of dinutuximab (immunotherapy that targets neuroblastoma cells) from June 19-23 and July 17-21. In stark contrast to the first cycle, Freddie *flew* through these ones! In the past, he developed hypotension, high fevers, and seemed to be in a good deal of pain. Now, we joke that he must be getting a placebo infusion instead. He’s up playing in the playroom, roaming the halls, typing on the computers at the nurses station, playing air hockey (or as Freddie calls it, “aye-gockey”), all while on a continuous morphine drip. Our little guy just continues to amaze us.
In other news, I went back to work full time on June 22, at the same cancer center where Freddie receives treatment. It’s been an adjustment, but since Freddie is admitted from Friday-Tuesday, I get to spend the weekends with him!
Freddie is going to have some scans done at the end of this month to take a sneak peak and reassure us (and his medical team) that he’s still responding to treatment. We’re hoping and praying for good news, and continued healing for our little guy. If things stay on schedule, he’ll he finished with active treatment in early November – hopefully by his 2nd birthday!
It’s refreshing, not having much to report. We’re just enjoying the summer, spending the majority of it out of the hospital. 😊 Thank you, always, for continuing to follow along!
